Novah / Your first clean, made easy

Before your cleaner arrives.

Booked your first clean? Lovely. You can put the mop down. A little preparation helps us get to the surfaces that need cleaning, without turning your evening into a cleaning shift.

Ready for your first clean?
A woman moves a bag from a chair in a bright apartment with a clear entrance.

Clear a little space. Tell us the important bits.

Pick up loose belongings, make sure we can get in and let us know about pets, delicate surfaces or anything you would like left alone. There is no need to vacuum or scrub before we arrive. The cleaning is the part you booked us for.

What happens on cleaning day?

  1. Before we arrive

Have access ready and share any last changes to your booking notes. Point out delicate items and the priorities for the booked visit.

  2. While we clean

Give the cleaner room to work through the agreed tasks. You can be home or out; keep your phone reachable if something needs a quick clarification.

  3. Once we are done

Take a look around and let us know if something needs attention. Keep your booking details handy when contacting us. Share useful preferences for the next visit too.

01 / Before you start

Three things worth sorting first.

You do not need a perfectly tidy home. You need a workable route through it.

A way in

Check the date, arrival arrangements and entry instructions in your booking. If access needs organising, agree it with us before the visit. Share keys or door codes privately through the agreed contact channel.

Space to clean

Move clothes, chargers, toys and papers off the floors and surfaces you want cleaned. Put washing-up away where practical. A clear worktop lets the cleaner reach the worktop.

A few useful notes

Tell us about delicate materials, rooms to leave alone, product preferences and the tasks that matter most to you. Add the information to your booking notes or contact us if something has changed.

02 / The steps

A small reset before the doorbell.

Go room by room. Stop when the cleaner can reach what needs cleaning.

Cleaning cloths and tools arranged together in a compact kit.
Leave your vacuum, mop, bucket and toilet brush ready and easy to find.
  1. Give the floors a clear route

Gather loose items into their usual places or a basket. Move shoes away from the entrance and tuck cables out of the walking route. You do not need to reorganise every cupboard. Leave large furniture where it is and tell us if access is awkward.

  2. Put personal and fragile things somewhere safe

Store jewellery, private paperwork and breakable objects in a place you are comfortable with. Tell us which surfaces or objects should not be touched. A quick heads-up is more helpful than hoping we recognise the one vase that matters most.

  3. Make a comfortable plan for pets

Let us know which animals will be home and whether any doors must stay closed. Choose a calm place for your pet while cleaning is happening. If an animal is nervous around unfamiliar people or a vacuum, discuss the visit with us beforehand.

  4. Have the required equipment ready

Novah brings professional cleaning products and cloths. You provide a working vacuum cleaner, mop, bucket and toilet brush, as agreed when booking. Leave them easy to find. If a required tool is missing or does not work, contact us before the visit. Mention product preferences and any material-care instructions too.

  5. Tell us what matters, then get on with your day

You can be home or arrange access while you are out. Point out the priorities and anything that has changed since booking. Keep your phone reachable if we need to clarify something. After that, your part of the preparation is done.

03 / The finishing touch

A normal home is welcome.

A basket of laundry does not disqualify your home from having a cleaner. Preparation is about access and clear instructions. It is not a test of how well you clean.

  • Leave the actual cleaning to us.
  • A note about a delicate surface is always useful.
  • If preparation feels difficult, tell us before the visit.

04 / Questions

Questions

Should I clean before the cleaner comes?

You do not need to scrub, dust or vacuum. Put away loose belongings so the booked surfaces are reachable. If there is unusual dirt or a situation that might affect the work, contact us ahead of the visit.

Do I have to be at home?

No. You can stay at home or agree entry arrangements with Novah. Confirm how the cleaner will get in before the visit and keep entry details private.

What if my home is very cluttered?

Tell us before the visit so we can discuss what is reachable and what you want done. Home cleaning and sorting a room full of belongings are different tasks. A clear shared plan is the useful starting point.

Is this also a move-out checklist?

This guide is for a booked clean in a home you are living in. An empty-apartment handover needs different preparation. You can find our separate move-out checklist in the Library.
